American Center for Character and Cultural Education

"Meeting today's youth right where they are"
Symposium objectives are to provide information to parents on emerging trends in popular youth culture that will enable parents to "cross the cultural divide" in communicating with and supporting young people as they strive towards adulthood.

Cultural Divide symposiums for parents are designed to assist families in crossing the natural, generational divide between parents and their children. Staying current on emerging popular youth culture trends is a full-time job. We invest our time and resources doing youth culture homework, and are ready to pass on the information to Mom and Dad about Hollywood, MTV and youth trends in a way that helps parents communicate with their children in a culturally effective way, while respecting family ideals.

Parents will:

  • BETTER UNDERSTAND their influence and impact in the lives of their children.
  • Be encouraged to PERSEVERE in relationships with their children even when they believe they are losing ground to the often negative messages of today's popular youth culture.
  • Learn to sift through the maze of today's POPULAR YOUTH CULTURE!
  • Better understand the contrast between parental authority and adolescent freedom.
  • BE MOTIVATED to become more involved in their children's lives, and the lives of their children's friends.
  • Learn how to "cross the cultural divide" and communicate with young people in a culturally effective way.
